Weeks 1, 2, and 3

MS Against Tobacco Use Spokesperson, Lori Carter,

reads a story to the children about the dangers

of tobacco use.

Ms. Mary and Ms. Tina pass out world banks to collect money for

this year's service project, MS Toughest Kid's Foundation. The goal is for every participant to collect $25 ($5 per week of the program). Children will receive a special prize for collecting money!

The second week of the program featured our favorite magician, Dorian Lachance!

His magic tricks incorporated the summer reading theme, One World-Many Stories! Children (and one 'unsure' adult) were chosen to help with the magic tricks.

Wow! 111 children, 28 adults, and several volunteers crammed the library on Wednesday, June 1! Children heard about the dangers of tobacco use from Mrs. Lori Carter, spokesperson of Mississippi Tobacco Free, and Mrs. Mary Kitchens came to get the crowd excited about our summer service project, Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation! All summer participants received their reading kits, free books, Tobacco Free bracelets, and their World-shaped banks.

If children were not able to come to the first program.....hey, that's okay!!! We have four more programs to go!

Halloween Fun!

Ms. Sandra, the pumpkin and Ms. Gwen, the witch (the good one!). We enjoyed having story time and trick or treaters throughout the day. Mrs. Morayma Aitkins was the perfect ghost!
All decked out and representing the library at Trunk or Treat in Chautauqua Park. Trunk or Treat was a benefit for Mississippi's Toughest Kids and it gave
the library a chance to promote our Halloween books!
Oh, and Mr. Scarecrow (my husband) was a really good sport!
